Ali Hashemi, Ph.D.

Ali Hashemi, Ph.DDr. Ali Hashemi has recently completed his Ph.D. from the Mining Department of Queen’s University. He has over six years of experience in various aspects of mining and geomechanical engineering. In his Ph.D. thesis, he investigated the dynamic fracturing of rock material under blast loading. Using advanced numerical techniques and experimental approaches, he provided novel solutions for the improvement of rock fragmentation in the mining industry. In addition, he has introduced a new de-stress blasting pattern for the purpose of rock mass preconditioning in burst prone deep underground spaces. Ali has hands-on experience in mining operations, which provides him with great insight in solving the practical problems and challenges at operating mines.
